Screenplay Advice From Author James Frey
The most famous person I’ve ever crossed paths with is New York Times bestselling author James Frey. I had written a few screenplays and sought help from anyone and everyone to try to get integrated into Hollywood’s ecosystem.
My (now) wife’s aunt said she could arrange a meeting with James since they are close friends, and passed on one of my screenplays to him. It was a cool experience visiting his office in Connecticut, where we chatted for about fifteen minutes.
James voiced his frustration with how people constantly want to pass off their own or others’ writing to him given his platform, which I completely understood as a major imposition and quite annoying.
He mentioned that a lot of the stuff that he did review should be put in a drawer and never see the light of day. However, he liked the rawness of my screenplay and recommended a number of changes to tighten it up. It was an awesome experience getting insight and being complimented by someone who is that renowned.
Horticultural Chat With Dame Judi Dench
In my line of work, I’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with many intriguing individuals, but one encounter stands out—with Dame Judi Dench, a renowned actress.
It was during a home renovation project at her charming country estate where we were revamping her garden. While installing a classic English rose arbor, I had the chance to chat with her about her passion for plants.
She was exceptionally knowledgeable, and we ended up discussing our mutual love for horticulture over a cup of tea. It was a wonderful experience, not just because of her fame, but because her genuine interest and warmth made it memorable.
Inspirational Encounter With a Business Mogul
I once met a famous business mogul at a networking event. We talked about their success and business practices. It was interesting to learn about their career path and how they achieved success.
They gave me advice on how to navigate the business world and shared some insights into their industry. I left the event feeling inspired and motivated to pursue my own business goals. Though I cannot disclose the name of the mogul, the conversation was informative and impactful.
Observing Kim Kardashian’s Public Persona
I saw Kim Kardashian at a restaurant where she was sitting at the table next to mine. While some might not view her as noteworthy, her immense following and success in social media and marketing made it a memorable experience.
As a business expert, I recognize the value of potential insights she could provide in those fields. Overall, it was exciting to be in her presence and observe how she interacts in public spaces.
Surprise Tennis Coaching From Serena Williams
During a casual encounter at a local tennis club, I had the opportunity to receive guidance and coaching from the legendary Serena Williams. She generously shared her expertise and offered valuable tips to improve my game.
Her insights on techniques, strategies, and mental preparation were unparalleled. This unexpected and personal interaction with a global tennis icon left a lasting impact on my approach to the sport. It was a truly inspiring experience to learn from one of the greatest athletes of our time.
