I once had to pull out at the last minute from a trip to Sierra Leone, and my friends who went there came back with nothing but wonderful memories and recommendations. As a foodie and a great admirer of well-maintained beaches, it’s a perfect destination for me. I’m eager to try local dishes such as Okra soup and would love to hike all around the coast.

Embark on a Kenyan Adventure
I would spend my seven days in Africa exploring the beautiful and vast Kenyan landscape. I would start my journey with a wild expedition to see the big five—African elephant, buffalos, lion, leopard, and rhino. As part of my bucket list research, I’ve learned it only costs under $100 a person to do an extensive safari.
Next up would be to visit Iten, the home of the best long-distance runners, including the first sub-two-hour marathoner, Eliud Kipchoge. As a running enthusiast, this is a pilgrimage for me. I would wind up my week in Diani on the white sandy beaches as I soak in some sun and the grace of the majestic Indian Ocean.

Experience Africa’s Diversity
My first stop would be a safari experience in the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. This expanse of savannah grasslands and acacia tree forests is home to some of the world’s most iconic wildlife species, like lions, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, and more. Here you can embark on game drives, hot-air balloon rides, and guided walks with expert rangers.
My second destination would be Egypt, where I could explore one of the world’s greatest civilizations while checking off must-see sights like the Pyramid Complex at Giza or take a day trip around Luxor Temple on both sides of the Nile River. If I had some time left after these two visits, I would go somewhere in South Africa.

Discover Zambia’s Wildlife and Conservation
Zambia is an amazing country. By some accounts, it is the best country for safaris. Given that it is landlocked, the black market for poaching has a harder time operating. This has the downstream effect of preserving local wildlife. In addition, the government is relatively committed to conservation. You combine that with easy-going locals who appreciate tourism, and you get a great place to see nature.

If I had 7 days to spend in Africa, I would definitely head to the Garden Route. This stunning stretch of coastline in South Africa boasts some of the most breathtaking scenery I’ve ever seen—from rugged cliffs and pristine beaches to lush forests and rolling hills.
But it’s not just about the views. There are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, from hiking and kayaking to wildlife watching and bungee jumping.
Plus, it is home to some fantastic restaurants and wineries, so you can indulge in some delicious food and drink while you’re there. Trust me, it is a must-visit destination for any traveler looking for a mix of natural beauty and adventure.

Kenya’s Mountains and Coastal Towns
Kenya has been on my bucket list for quite some time now! I have a friend that lives in Nairobi, and I’d love to visit her one day. Her favorite spot is the Aberdare Mountains, and this would be my first spot to visit with her.
I’ve seen many beautiful images of lush green forests and mesmerizing waterfalls. After the mountains, there’s no better way to wind down than to go to the ocean and visit Watamu and Malindi, two beautiful ocean-side towns. Now that I think about it, maybe 7 days is too short for a Kenya visit!

Uncover Tanzania’s Diverse Attractions
If I had 7 days to spend in Africa, I would definitely consider visiting Tanzania. Tanzania offers an incredible range of experiences, from exploring the Serengeti National Park, watching wildlife in Ngorongoro Crater, hiking in Kilimanjaro, to relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar.
With only 7 days, it would be challenging to see everything, but with proper planning, I believe Tanzania would be a fantastic choice for a week-long African adventure.
